So apparently Michael Jackson died…

June 26th, 2009 | Categories: Muddy River of Life

My first reaction was: meh.
My friend’s reaction as he was working out was: OK, he’s dead! They’ve been talking about this on the news for half and hour already (well, more like a whole day, I’m sure)!
My other friend: Hey, let’s put on Beat It!
My other other friend: He’s dead already? I was hoping he’d turn black again… and then write another song!
My friend with the OK reaction: Yeah, well, at least he died a white man’s death!

Michael Jackson made good songs, but lately he’s been kinda weird. In fact, he’s lost all relevance whatsoever. And that is not the way for a star to go. I mean, come on, the world’s most famous pedophile and rock star died of a freaking heart attack? How generic can you get? Poor Michael. Rust in peace.

I was like ‘meh’ too. I didn’t really like his music but I won’t deny he made a huge cultural impact around the world. But it sucks to die right before his decision to make a big break in his career. Even though the man went through so many scandals, I thought he might still have a chance to change his life and image around for the better. Sorry ’bout that MJ.

Same here. I guess we’ve been desensitized by the internet and twitter so much that people dying doesn’t mean anything anymore! OMG! *hype hype*
But yeah, it’s a shame he died before he got a chance to clear the canvas and start over.

Actually I only heard about it first through Facebook, then word of mouth. Apparently the news only took 10 minutes to reach Germany! No, I maintain it’s because he ceased to be relevant to the music scene.

I wonder if everybody actually felt ‘meh’ about it on Facebook, even though so many of my friends were like “RIP MJ”. I know a lot of them don’t listen to MJ daily, that’s for sure! Well, look who’s talking… I don’t have a single MJ song on my hard drive and I still made a blog post about it.

Oh, and really, if he died from drugs or something, at least that redeems his death somewhat. Well, kinda. He died like a true star that way.

EDIT: Hey, did anybody balk at my friend putting on “Beat It” to commemorate his death?

I read he died. I´m just like : WTF he was alive up untill now? Wow. So I´m meh as well :p

No relevance to me if he lives or dies. Some songs are good, but that is all.

Zeroblade: You´re almost right. Caring about other people´s deaths are thanks to media not much worth, unless it was/is a big superstar. Then all pages and newspapers are all over it. It sells papers and that is all they care about.

    I´m tired of it.
