So my parents had a Canon Powershot A560 waiting for me when I got back
Even though it’s 2 years old, it’s still miles ahead of any other digital camera we have. And of course, it has Photoshop and CHDK to help shore up its argument against the Zenit FS12 that I brought back… along with the 10 rolls of film that my parents refused to develop, even though I said that pictures of my German friends and German beauties were in there.

Composition isn’t the focus here – it’s what Photoshop can do to your image. The original worked composition wise, but didn’t look special. Some time messing around with the DNG generated by CHDK in Photoshop CS2 made it look special, the dynamic range more pronounced, and some parts of the clothes actually translucent. I kinda like it.

You know, Photoshop is really worrying me. I’m getting worried that I’ll move to digital just because of Photoshop’s ability to postprocess any image that I take and soon all I’ll need to master is composition. Who gives a fuck about lighting and white balance when all you have is Photoshop?
The rule of thirds really works. These images were shot in JPG only, no postprocessing through Photoshop:

Notice how even a funky angle doesn’t save the last image.

I took the same image with my Zenit 12S. We’ll see which lens has better bokeh if and when I eventually get that developed.

Citizen SDC-839 business calculator. I wanted to focus on the Mark Up button instead of the sqrt button, but the shitty Canon Powershot won’t let me manual focus. And I really don’t want to try shooting in dark light conditions with the Zenit. Composition and postprocessing.

It’s just my bedsheet with morning sun on it.
