And… ritchan is back!
That’s right people, ritchan is back! Finals are over, I just moved into my parents’ friends’ apartment, and it’s all going well!
Well, it is a little bit… uh…. quiet. I’m not very sure about this, but I’m thinking of bringing my 2.1 system over here. This is sure to be fun! And I’ll try and see if I can scrounge up a VGA cable so I can play zsnes on the projector…. oh yes baby! Oh yes… maybe the computer co-op room will have something like that. OH YES. It’ll be a bitch lugging that thing over here though.
Now all I’ve got to do is somehow get zsnes to reliably put out sound. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s really annoying.
Becuase I’m too chicken to ask my neighbours downstairs for instructions on how to use their wireless, I’m actually leeching off somebody’s network right now. That’s right, some stranger’s network. They probably figured that since their internet topped out at 40kb/s, no self-respecting Canadian would use their access point for internet. Well they’re wrong. I’m not Canadian, and I grew up on 4kb/s dialup! I’m still going to use their wireless! Their router webpage is even set on the default admin password. How sad is that? I could set up port forwarding on that if I wanted to!
Or perhaps this is a honeypot, and some secret machine that doesn’t respond to broadcast ping is secretly recording my transmission over this network?
Well, that’s why I’m compiling and installing tor as I speak.
I’m also downloading the last 50 episodes of Touch. Damn but I love Touch. Some series you just watch and after some time you go ‘oh man, it’s too much of a hassle to download and watch those last remaining episodes of Eureka 7′ but Touch is different. I probably won’t be taking notice of any of the live action movies though.
Gentoo Linux on my Compal GL31 has a not very reproducible complete system freeze when I switch from X11 to the console, usually messing up all my window manager configs, WINEd foobar2000 and Firefox bookmarks and preferences in the process. I recompiled the affected programs with ‘CFLAGS=’-O2 -march=pentium-m -pipe’ instead of ‘-O2 -march=pentium-m -msse3 -pipe’, but it didn’t really change the problem. I think it’s a kernel thing, but then it would be more easily reproducible, wouldn’t you think? Anyway for now I disabled ‘allocate 3rd level pagetables from highmem’, although I don’t think that should have anything to do with the problem. Let’s see how that works out. Currently I haven’t had a single crash.
I’m also downloading this DVD rip called Memories. From the description on boxtorrents:
Part two is titled Stink Bomb – a tongue-in-cheek story of a chemical researcher who is just looking for a way to get rid of his cold… so why is everybody around him dying?
Sounds intriguing to me. Let’s go!
But first life calls. I gotta wash the plates. Bye!
