Working towards a PS3

October 8th, 2009 | Categories: Games

The object of this project is to get 300EURs so I can buy a Playstation 3 before Christmas. That in itself shouldn’t be hard, I had a job working as a waiter in Khan, a Chinese restaurant down in Alexanderstrasse, but that didn’t pan out too well because I had absolutely no idea how to be a waiter. In the end i just got 40EURs out of that and I have to pay the 90EUR monthly rent with that.

The rules:
1. No using parents’ money.
2. No compromises (no PS2, that comes later), must be a backwards compatible PS3
3. If possible, get the Samsung SyncMaster F2380 for 250EURs.

The PS3 requires me to buy games which are about 50EURs a pop, but I figure that if I can get 300EURs, I can get 50EURs, so I’ll just have to choose carefully which games I buy, and buy them used (the PS2 games at least). Looking forward, the PS3 will be a financial burden as long as I lust after upcoming games, but less of a physical burden when moving as my IBM Intellistation POWER 275 and SGI Octane (which weigh upwards of 80kg total, I’m sure).

That’s right, I’m selling those two computers off. I’m hoping to get about 300EURs for the 275 (it’s above most of the 275s on eBay, but then, so are the specs and software included) and about 100-200 for the Octane.

And of course, I’ll try other things as well. Thanks to these computers, I’ve gained extra leverage in applying for IT jobs. Wish me luck! I’ll need it.

Living with a friend. It actually isn’t too bad, except for the incredibly spicy food he makes and the fact that I can’t fart whenever I like.
