Computer updates

Some mainland Chinese folks have grabbed an i7, overclocked it to 3.2GHz, and posted the review up for your pleasure.

At the same time, I feel myself not… getting… as hard as usual over that review. That is because I’m looking at way more interesting computers at the same time, so you guys go ahead and fap to the i7.

Or maybe it’s just because I’m an AMD fan.

On software for IRIX: The Written Word seems to have been around for some time, and they have packages for IRIX, HP-UX, IBM AIX, Tru64 UNIX, and almost every version of Solaris out there (not SunOS, Solaris). Unfortunately, it costs money. A lot of money. Incredible, since they’re selling OSS compiled for obscure platforms, but people pay because they are running obscure platforms. Unfortunately again, Nekoware seems to be a bit more frequently updated. I’ll stick with Nekoware.

The new Macbook lineup seems to be pretty potent with the Geforce 9400M GPU, but it seems to be out of reach for me at the moment. I can only spare 100 Euro for any computer stuff. When can I buy one for my parents?
