Today could be called a Haruhi Episode 9. As always, the store opposite us had many more customers and I wonder just how we had survived ten years with that shop having been there for eight.
As luck would have it, I spent too much time reading Maurice LeBlanc’s Extraordinary Adventures of Arsene Lupin to have my parents accusing me of playing games and confiscating my laptop. So now I can’t watch any more HD Code Geass.
Still, that didn’t stop this day from being an interesting one. I met an ISKL friend, Irina, today. I’m tempted to pu Vasilieva after that, but I know that’s just a singer. I also met an Indian woman. She wasn’t that pretty (kao wa inochi!) but she had a certain air about her that made her up to 40% more attractive. I decided to test my courage and sat down next to her over the counter. I asked her what she was waiting for, and she showed a piece of paper that said: DDR SDRAM. A colleague showed another customer a webcam - she got up. She looked like she was about to leave. I said ‘uh, Ma’am, that’s not DDR SDRAM’.
‘Oh, how embarassing.’ She sat back down.
Safe topics included who she was, so I asked her where she’s working (property development). She asked me where I lived, and I said Jalan Tun Razak. She said she lived in PJ. All in all I was doing most of the talking and stuff, and she eventually said she was from ATC. What’s that, I asked. Why, only the premier law college of Malaysia, she said. So she was a lawyer after all. Apparently there are lawyers for companies, and they don’t go to court, they just advise people.
Then I ate. When I came back, she had got the RAM and was going back. I said ‘tell your boss that lawyers are not meant to do errands’ and when she was just about to agree, I decided I just hadn’t had enough of that unique lawyer aura about her and said ‘but tell your boss that I’d love to see you here again. Come again, Ma’am.’
Now, I have many things to do, so you’ll excuse me, I’m sure. I’m just going to watch Ghibli’s Ocean Waves (Umi ga Kikoeru). God, I love that movie.
