Franz Liszt - Totentanz
Krystian Zimerman - Piano; Seiji Ozawa - Boston Symphonie Orchestra
208kbps Ogg Vorbis (SSE3MTLancer)

If the last one didn't score high on the music tastes chart, this one will. Plus, Krystian Zimerman rips through this song like a katana through flesh jelly. And everybody knows Totentanz. Right?

Went down to town today and took my bike to the Bike Doctor on W. Broadway. It wouldn’t shift from 1st to 2nd, only 1st to 3rd then back down to 2nd… the rear brakes were completely useless, I said (they were really worn out, he said), and I wanted a rack and some lube. So I got all that, and it cost me 50CAD. I probably shouldn’t have spent money on that Saitek P990 gamepad yesterday.

That reminds me: I have to download the drivers for that gamepad. It already works in Windows, but I just wonder what other stuff the drivers bring to the table.

In order to reduce disk usage, I’ve come up with the following plan: download my music in lossless from now on, convert to a lossy format and burn the lossless to DVD, instead of just keeping the lossless files on my hard disk. This could really help if I wanted to keep the Ghost in the Shell soundtracks, because damn those things deserve the lossless treatment… but I just don’t have the space for all that.

Wait, isn’t this equivalent to downloading everything from Nipponsei in the first place? No, not quite, because I get to control the format of the lossy files. Hmm… I wonder if Musepack or Vorbis or Nero’s AAC encoder is better… ah whatever, I have Lancer’s SSE3MT aoTuV builds so let’s just use Vorbis. I just encoded GITS:SAC OST1 with it, and I think it’s indistinguishable, unless you listen really carefully and use really high end equipment… which I don’t have, and I’m not supposed to be doing that when I listen to music anyway, so there we go.

Emuparadise.org has Metal Slug Complete Sound Box up. I’m only going to download Metal Slug 1,2,3 and 5, because I don’t like 4 all that much. Darn Koreans just had to mess the series up. I’ve never had an incomplete soundtrack in my music collection before, but I guess now’s a good time to start, what with me running out of disk space and all.

So right now I’m sitting here in UBC leeching off the internet in a spectacular fashion, ignoring the growls of hunger from my stomach. Yup, I have my priorities right.

Wow, it says Metal Slug COMPLETE SONG BOX on foobar2000! Damn… I gotta get all the other soundtracks too!
